Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

A bright, inviting kitchen scene showing a hand holding a condensation-covered glass of freshly made watermelon lemonade next to a ribbed glass pitcher, with scattered fresh fruit garnishes resting on a white counter.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 cups seedless watermelon, cubed

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5-6 large lemons)

  • 3 cups cold filtered water

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup water (for simple syrup)

  • Fresh mint leaves (optional garnish)

  • Lemon slices (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make simple syrup: In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool.

  2. Blend watermelon: Place the cubed watermelon into a high-speed blender. Blend on high until completely pureed.

  3. Strain: Pour the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve over a bowl. Discard the thick pulp left behind.

  4. Juice lemons: Squeeze your fresh lemons until you have 1 cup of juice. Strain out any seeds.

  5. Mix the lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the strained watermelon juice, fresh lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and 3 cups of cold water.

  6. Chill: Stir vigorously. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.

  7. Serve: Pour over ice in individual glasses. Garnish with a lemon slice and fresh mint. Enjoy!
