Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

A bright overhead view of a delicious stack of golden-brown, crispy bacon wrapped asparagus bundles resting on a rustic wooden cutting board, scattered with coarse black pepper and sea salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus (medium-thick spears)

  • 12 slices standard-cut bacon

  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Optional: Place a wire cooling rack over the pan for extra crispy bacon.

  2. Trim asparagus: Wash the asparagus and pat completely dry. Snap off the tough, woody bottom ends and discard.

  3. Season: Place the trimmed spears in a bowl. Drizzle lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic powder and black pepper, and toss to coat.

  4. Wrap: Gather 3-4 asparagus spears into a small bundle. Take one slice of bacon and wrap it tightly in a spiral down the center of the bundle.

  5. Arrange: Place the wrapped bundle on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring the ends of the bacon slice are tucked underneath to prevent unrolling. Repeat until all spears are wrapped.

  6. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender.

  7. Serve: For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the very end. Serve immediately and enjoy!
